I made a shower journal for my BFF Andrea so people could write some advice or inspiring little notes for her to read when she is going through the fun that is newfound motherhood.
Some of the quotes I included are:
- Call your girlfriends to complain...misery loves company.
- Don't stand when you can sit. Don't sit when you can lie down. Don't stay awake if you can be asleep.
- Breastfeeding is not a prophylactic!
- Never wake a sleeping baby...if they are hungry, they will wake up.
- As a newborn, always assume the baby is hungry.
- For the first three months, do whatever you have to do in order to keep yourself sane.

Positive note of the day: Had fun at Andrea's shower yesterday. Her mom and sister put so much effort into it which was great. So many times I have been disheartened when I play co-hostess (this time in a very limited role!) and the other participant(s) just don't have their heart in it to make the effort. Yes, I am a little bit of a perfectionist (gotta nip that in the bud...at least I went to
M&Ms this time instead of killing myself trying to make everything!) but I just want the event to be memorable. Sometimes life gives you very few moments of bliss where the focus can be on you or a loved one...when it is, I think everything should sparkle!
