A Shower Journal

I made a shower journal for my BFF Andrea so people could write some advice or inspiring little notes for her to read when she is going through the fun that is newfound motherhood.

Some of the quotes I included are:
  • Call your girlfriends to complain...misery loves company.
  • Don't stand when you can sit. Don't sit when you can lie down. Don't stay awake if you can be asleep.
  • Breastfeeding is not a prophylactic!
  • Never wake a sleeping baby...if they are hungry, they will wake up.
  • As a newborn, always assume the baby is hungry.
  • For the first three months, do whatever you have to do in order to keep yourself sane.
DP Used: Chick-a-doo by SEI.
Journalling templates: Printable Paper.

Question: Does anyone have a online connection for clear book binding tape? I love making these books but I need to add the tape so that the spine stays intact! Thanks in advance!

Positive note of the day: Had fun at Andrea's shower yesterday. Her mom and sister put so much effort into it which was great. So many times I have been disheartened when I play co-hostess (this time in a very limited role!) and the other participant(s) just don't have their heart in it to make the effort. Yes, I am a little bit of a perfectionist (gotta nip that in the bud...at least I went to M&Ms this time instead of killing myself trying to make everything!) but I just want the event to be memorable. Sometimes life gives you very few moments of bliss where the focus can be on you or a loved one...when it is, I think everything should sparkle!

Quick Gift Card

So it's one of my BFFs (Andrea's) baby shower today. I made this gift card holder with this cute dollar stamp I picked up last week from M's. (I wish I had more time to create something for this occasion but work has been a killer this week!)

Positive note of the day: Was able to spend about an hour alone with my boy yesterday after school. We played UNO and, for the first time, he was able to both gracefully win and lose. I have spent at least three to four years playing different games with him where he would either be "In your face!" if he won or playing the martyr ("I never win. I don't think I'll ever play again."). In some ways, it would have been a lot easier to not play with him but I am glad we are at a stage where I could enjoy playing a game with him as an equal. (Although he still can't seem to hold eight cards in his hand without having them flop all over the table!)

Another Blow the Dust Off Stamp Set

Hadn't pulled this one out in a while...really like the sweet images esp. paired with this paper pack that I found at the dollar store (score!).

Positive note of the day: Got the girls vaccinated for H1N1 this afternoon (thank gawd). Seriously did not want that weighing on my mind and thankfully was able to get in down at the Stampede grounds with very little wait (after the horror stories of previous weeks where lineups took forevah...not good with little ones!).

Won't you buy a stamp...

Lorie and Danni gave me a heads-up as to a special stamp that Melissa of Pink Cat Studios is selling in honour of Sarah Anderson's three year old son Henry. It is absolutely precious and all proceeds will be donated to install a tree in memory of Henry. Sigh.
Very simple but effective card. Read here too if you want to add some glitter to your stamped images in a snap!

Fresh From the Oven

It was hard to get a good picture of this one. The original photo of Ave (fresh from the oven!) was taken in very low light so getting a picture of the page was not an easy task!

Positive note of the day: Okay, this makes me giggle...and if you don't, well you have a heart of stone! Can you tell the difference? Ha ha!

Had to get a pram suit for Ave since she cannot fit into Charlotte's hand-me-downs and, since she ain't sitting/walking, I wanted a one-piece to keep her warm in her sedentary state. This one fits (I needed the length for her even if she is skinny!), and is super comfy. She does look like the Abominable Snowman though!

Tweet a Christmas Wish

Despite the fact it has been an age since I pulled out my Pink Cat studio stamps, Melissa's images never grown old with me...too cute! And here's an easy one with a palette of green, red, pink and chocolate featuring Tweet...fun!

Positive note of the day: Some days, these are hard to think of...hmm, I made meatloaf tonight. That was good...ha! (See, I told ya.)

This one is so smart...a digi enlarged to card size! Now I am going to re-look at my digis in a whole new way! (And don't get me started on that DP and ribbon!)

Hey...can't think of a post title today...

Hi ya...whoa, am I tired. You see, I have been enjoying far too much sleep lately which makes me crave it even more! I am still (forevah!) working with Ave on all her night wakings (every two hours last night). And, with the time change, our day now starts at 5:30 AM instead of 6:30 AM! I have been up for over two hours already and it feels like I have had a full day (no idea why...). And Ave, I wish she would actually eat her food...instead, she licks it and then drops it down her front. She is in all blue this morning (one of her brother's hand me-downs) so she truly is the Cookie Monster.

For my card today, I kept it simple with a die-cut from Cosmo Cricket and a mix of Cosmo Cricket and Basic Grey DP. I also used Karen's sketch but flipped it on its side. Okay, peace out homies. My nanny was sick yesterday so I will have to get cracking when she gets here today to get my manual done.

Positive note of the day: Been listening to lots of Ray LaMontagne lately (folksey). This song is one of my faves if you are interested...

LPS Monday...Stampified Digis

This LPS Monday finds us with a challenge from Mel (who's leaving us...sniff!). She encouraged us to mix at least one digi with at least one stamped image. I incorporated mine with the FTL 66 sketch from Clean and Simple as well as a bunch of Cosmo Cricket DP.

LPS Stamps Used: {Katie Igloo} and {Snowflakes}

Please congratulate Julie, Silvia and Heather as the newest members of the Senior Design Team for LPS...woo hoo! And don't forget to visit the LPS blog for a chance to win Katie Caroler for playing along with our challenge this week!

Positive note of the day: Went to the park with the kids, made cookies (which are far too tasty) and got most of my work done for the weekend...yay!
