I am musing again...
- I was listening to a middle-of-the-road radio station this afternoon. In introducing the upcoming song, the DJ stated that it was over 25 years since Bonnie Tyler released "Total Eclipse of the Heart". Not only did I then have to sit and listen to that song (ever seen the video? weird...), I had to think "Jeebus, 25 years? I'm old".
- NPR introduced a revamped music site...if you are into finding new artists, interviews and reviews, there's a lot of stuff to check out.
- Listened to an interview from WNYC's On the Media tonight (as I oiled my kitchen cupboards...they look so much better!). In that interview, a gentleman quoted Jeff Jarvis who believes that since everyone was so much more open now due to social networking sites and blogging, that we would be more tolerant and respectful of each others' publicness. Here's a quote I found most telling:
But I think this will be a matter of mutually assured humiliation: We will all have our moments of youthful indiscretion and we will have to forgive others’ if we want them to ignore ours. I say that could even make us more tolerant.
- I know I have said this before, but it totally weirds me out when someone I "know" (like in the flesh) reads my blog. I mean even though I have "known" some of you for a few years now, it just seems "different". In some respects, save my closest of friends, you guys know me better than some of the people I deal with on a day-to-day basis. You hear me chronicle my difficulties with the WJs, all the tribulations of Avery's birth and CHD as well as anything else that pops into my head. (P.S. Now I am thinking I do bitch a lot...ha ha!)
- Anyway, I tend to agree with Jarvis. The only way to find a sense of community is to share yourself, warts and all. For me, recognizing a shared experience in this community (be it something as simple as a lack of mojo to wanting to throttle your kids), has made me more appreciative of others' experience. Most importantly, I have learned to give myself a break. Nobody is as perfect as they seem...and frankly, those that even come close are a real bore...

Lemon oil is the best for cupboards. Yes it does take a little bit of time- but it sure is worth it huh?

I know what you mean about the blog thing ... I ran into someone a few weeks ago in my town who recognized me from my blog picture ... it was an odd experience. So glad I've gotten to 'know' you ... love your creations and sharing the ups and downs.
