Squirrels: rats with fur coats. Speakin' of ... you should see the squirrels down here. They're pencil-thin compared to northern rats, err ... squirrels.
Did I mention destructive? I had a friend who had some get into their attic and then were unable to find their way out ... r-e-a-l smart critters, huh? Anyway, you would not believe the damage they'd done! It looked like a pack of teething WD's (Wild Dogs) had spent a week chewing their way through a forest!
I used to lurve to feed the l'il birdies but sadly it was always such a squirrel-magnet. But with no winter and a 12 month growing period, the birds down here are prolly eatin' better than my family!
