The View From My Window

There are so many birds in our backyard. I think I may be truly showing my age since I enjoy just sitting here and watching them (esp. since the WJs are at school and Ave is sleeping). Nothing too exciting I am afraid (it takes one hearty bird to live in this environment), but their habits are amusing...

A robin getting a drink from the puddle the WJs created filling the pool yesterday (which of course they did not go into since it was too darn cold!):

A house sparrow in our apple tree:

A song sparrow (one of about 100 out there!):

ETA: Historical trivia - Sparrows were part of a massive cull in China as part of the "Great Leap Forward" (which targeted rats, flies and mosquitoes as well in an attempt to protect harvests).

Well I KNOW for sure that I've reached "that age" (65) long ago. I love to watch the birds. My favorites are the cardinals and the hummingbirds.

What a great view! I've got a pair of woodpeckers in the front, but can never see them - just hear them! ~chris

Beautiful photos and lovely view from your window!!...I love watching the birds in my backyard too. This year we have a robin that has decided to make a nest right outside our back door..on our overhang. Thinks she is part of the family...LOL.
