Another Post About Controlling Image Size

Do you want more control over your image size in Blogger (i.e., to have more choices than the Blogger defaults of small, medium and large)? Here's another way to go about posting your pictures...

BEFORE YOU BEGIN:

In Blogger, understand that all your uploaded pictures are automatically posted in a Picasa web album. (For more information, see Blogger Buzz.)

STEPS:
  1. Upload your photo via Blogger as you normally would.

    Note: You could use Picasa, Flickr, webshots, etc. to upload your photo as well.

  2. Delete the uploaded photo from your post (either by deleting the HTML or clicking the image and Remove).

  3. Navigate to your Picasa web album (or other photo-hosting site).
  4. If you're like me, you will have a number of photo albums for your blog (since each folder has storage limits). Find the picture you uploaded in the current album (i.e., the one that has the latest revision date).
  5. Click the image thumbnail to view the photo.
  6. Right-click the image and select Copy Image Location.

  7. Navigate back to your blog post and click Edit HTML.
  8. Add the following text:

    <img src="COPIED URL">

    Note: Where it says COPIED URL, paste the link you just copied.

  9. Preview your post. If you think it is necessary, manipulate your photo size by adding the following HTML:

    <img src="COPIED URL" width="x%">

    Note: The width can be any percentage you dictate. (Disclaimer: Ensure that you do not make your percentage greater than the pixel size of your original photo since you will lose image quality!)

    Additional note: The "width" parameter in HTML will be a percentage of the width of the blog post as defined in your Blogger template (e.g., most Blogger Minima post widths are 410 px).

  10. Play with the values until you get something you are pleased with.
Clear as mud? If not, comment here and I'll edit the post.
