Help!

That sounds more alarming as a blog title than it should...

Anyway, I was out and about looking at moisturizers the last few days. My eczema is now mixing with my aging skin and ugh, I am done. I pitched all my old foundations since they all were just making me look worse! If you have a moisturizer (either that you wear alone or under makeup) that you love, can you drop me a comment? I have been checking out stuff online...all the stuff that gets the best reviews are very pricey. Before I go that route, I would love to hear what you guys have found works. My skin is so dry that it hurts sometimes. I just hate that even with exfoliating and moisturizing, my makeup still looks crappy due to my flaky skin. Come on spring...I need some moisture already!

Hey Allison! I use Mary Kay everything..well pretty much...some MAC stuff but mostly Mary Kay. I have a friend who has eczema and uses the extra emollient night cream when her skin is super dry but the other MK moisturizers are great too...my skin is oily, but there are dry skin options. email me if you'd like some more info.

I have been using the Costco brand-Borghese.(they have an entire line of make up etc) for about 5 years. I rarely wear makeup so just moisturiser and maybe some mineral blush if I feel the need for something. I like it, it gets great reviews from Consumer Reports and I even would put some on my hands if I forgot to use hand lotion. Some are boycotting this company because the woman is a Republican. And gives freebies to other right leaners. I don't care as long as no animals were harmed/died in testing this stuff. And it's cheap.

Hi there... I, too, use Mary Kay products. I have just about the driest skin in the world. I use their Intense Moisturizing Cream and when I really need an extra moisturizing boost, the Extra Emollient Night Cream. I love it and it has changed me from a wrinkly prune to a beautiful babe. OK, maybe I'm making up the beautiful babe part but at least I'm not a wrinkly prune.

I don't have dry skin but I use Artistry skin care and it works wonderfully for me. Friends have used the dry skin stuff and love it. Artistry is the Amway line of skin care and cosmetics.

No perfumed soap, washing lotion etc. for the face or body.
To make analysis dermatologist and have them put together a recipe and get at the pharmacy.
Best regards Brigadier

For me, I have to spend the bucks to get a decent moisturizer. I began using Arbonne's Reality Day Creme last November. I bought a 1.5 fl. oz. size and it lasted until a week ago. I never use soap on my face and I can't stand the feel of makeup on my face so the only thing I use is a little blush. This moisturizer cost me $40 for a new dispenser of it last week. It only takes a very small amount each day - one squirt. I don't have dry skin but I do need a moisturizer each day. I used Clinique for many years but finally quit when my face got little bumps all over. Hope you find something that works for you.

I have the same problems too and I use Kiss my Face- Fragrance Free Olive and Aloe Ultra Moisturizer(for extra sensitive skin). For me it is perfect. No more itching and my skin is happy. Plus it is $5.00 for a 4oz. tube and they do not do any animal testing. I tried lots of products and stayed with this one. Best wishes on your hunt.

This may sound wierd, but I use a product from Eucerin called Aquaphor. My ddl turned me on to it and I found it originally in the baby aisle for diaper rash of all things. It works great and I have since found it in the skin care section. It is very dry in Colorado and elbows, knees and feet are especially vulnerable, but I also use it on my face. I'm not a big fan of makeup, but it goes on thick but sinks in fast and isn't gooey or anything so you could probably use it under makeup. It has cleared up the dry patches everywhere really well though. Unscented and nothing irritating in it either. ~chris

You can move down to Houston, there's plenty of moisture here. haha!

I don't know if you've tried this already, but Clinique's moisturizer has worked wonder on me. The other one that I use is Aveeno's Wheat Daily (which is light brown & green color). And truthfully, when I travel, I use JNJ baby lotion, it adapts well wherever I ended up climate-wise.

I personally use MaryKay w/the occassional freebie Clinique samples if that helps.

Hello Allison,
We suffer from eczema as well I find Eucerin works well.Lately I've been useing hydrocortizone as a moisturizer at night if I'm still dry and itchy in the morning I use it under my makeup as well. A few days of that usually gets my skin back to normal. As for make up I switch between mineral and Mac products.Haven't found a make up I like either :(

Good Luck

I used the Cetaphil that comes in the tub at night and it has helped me.

I've had eczema since I was a baby - it is awful. My hands look like they belong to a little old lady. I recently discovered Mary Kay (a friend sells it) and really like it although it can be pricey. I do swear by everything Aveeno. I find it really soothing. For makeup I like Physicians Formual and Almay. My sister, who has seasonal eczema, really likes Spectro which has eczema formulas without scent, etc. I hope you find something useful. Good luck!

Hi Allison,

I use Aveeno Positively Ageless Moisturizer. I don't have excema but I do have dry skin and prone to getting skin cancer. This has spf42 and natural antioxidants. Good luck finding a product that you like and works for you.

Hey Alison, I will drop you an email, I was hospitalized for Exzema, head to toe, saw 16 dermatologists and have some helpful hints for you.

I also sold at a dept. store beauty clinic inbetween moves and jobs briefly. Do not use cosmetical lotions/potions or make up instead of pharmaceutical on your skin problem.

There is a big difference! don't get targeted by pricy items.

I'm not sure how you're cleaning your skin, but a lot of my skin problems went away when I started cleaning using oil. It sounds really weird, but it works for me. Here's a link to a blog post about it:

Might be worth trying if your skin is that dry. Ouch!
