Heart Attack Averted...

Gawd, the last five minutes of that Canada-Slovakia game almost about killed me (and Merlie and Diane). I think Nancy and Tracy thought we were nuts with all the screaming. They better not pull those shenanigans today! As I read on the Twitterverse, Canada will be closed tomorrow afternoon. (I will expect your game reports first thing Monday morning!)

I made this card for this past week's SCS SC. It's alright but I really wanted it to pop more given the papers I chose. Oh well...they can't all be faves.

Positive note of the day: I woke up headachy again (my word for it). Not exactly a full-blown headache but enough to feel cloudy. I think I sleep funny and then my neck muscles ache which pinches the nerves and, well, you get the picture. So I avoided the computer today and instead re-orged my main room. I edited a lot of pieces and cleaned out my junk drawers since I was in a pitching kinda mood.

Off to finish making up some things that I will tell you about soon. I am planning something for C which will hopefully win me some memory points with her!

ETA: I am getting a rage on for my ISP. Intermittent connectivity for about three days now (to the point where working is near impossible!). And this didn't get published when it should. Okay, rant over.

Lemonade Topiary

I combined LPS' {Topiary} with Lemonade from Basic Grey. I included a die and lots of yellow bling to encourage Spring to get here already! I will never get sick of this set...never!

Positive note of the day: Okay, I'm pre-posting but here's what the night holds for me...Cal-gals, VSN, hockey, pizza, Starbucks and sweet goodies. That's right...you should be jealous. Nancy is going to hook us up tonight so we can watch the game and craft...woo hoo!

EONAC7 - Ribbon Bitties

Sue came up with the idea of using ribbon ends (bitties, leftovers, etc.) on your card (talk about using up your stash!). I love this idea since I had barely any of this green grosgrain left but still wanted to include it! And yes, it's another Pure Innocence lovely mixed with Cosmo Cricket's Material Girl! If you play along, Sue will choose one person to receive a goodie bag of even more ribbon!

Positive note of the day: What a game...awesome work by those Canadian women to win hockey gold. Today's mens' game is Canada v. Slovakia...hopefully there will be no surprises.

Funny story with the girls today. We went shopping at the geriatric Safeway in our neighbourhood when the Rick James song "Give It to Me Baby" comes on over the speakers. We were cart dancing, I was singing and Ave was giggling. We had fun but do those Safeway folk know who their customers are?

LPS Friday Feature

Today's Feature Friday set for the Little Paper Shop is {Beautiful Things}. Here are a couple of my cards featuring that set but be sure to check out the LPS blog for more eye-catching inspiration!

For Susan...

When you only want to use part of a die to create a special edge...

Of course, the paper can only be as wide as the inside of the die for this technique to work. Spellbinders has some long dies that will fit the bill.
Labels Eight
Labels Eight $24.99
Long Classic
Scalloped Rectangles LG

ETA: As I was reminded, and was remiss in adding, you would want to run only the edge through the Cuttlebug to avoid any unnecessary embossing.

Zoom!

Had to make a card for a birthday party T is going to on Sunday. Didn't have many boy cards in the stash so I made one with Karen's Sunday Sketch. I used my scalloped edge punch since then I wouldn't have to worry about uneven edges...this sketch is great for all the scraps left over from this DCWV Grade School paper pack!

Positive note of the day: Great game tonight. Plus three more medals won...all by women!

Trends?

  • butterflies, cupcakes, geometric trees, birds, homey images (house, apron, furniture, etc.)
  • kraft CS
  • polka dots
  • patterned paper with small prints
  • bling (swirls in particular)
  • sponging
  • coral, garden green to celery, butter yellow
  • stitching (faux and real)
  • less layers
Can you add to the list? My mojo is lacking so I am in search of some ideas!

A Baby Card?

I thought this sketch offered up by Annabelle Stamps was so cute! So I paired it with a cute image...this baby one from Hanna Stamps (is that company still in business?...hmm...). Anyhoo, a relatively easy layout which I think may play well for a scrap page which I may try next since I am getting rusty in that department!

Positive note of the day: Loving those Canuck girls and their hockey skillz. I hate to sound mealy-mouthed about it but I would much rather put my energy into them than the guys (even with their 8-2 win against Germany...woo hoo!). The guys are great but it takes more than one practice to make a team. These girls work super hard and don't get near the recognition...looking forward to the American-Canadian showdown (again! Such a rivalry!)...

Another Broken Heart Card!

Don't ya love this fun paper Tina paired with the Broken Hearts for Broken Hearts set? (Remember, the set is only five dollars and all the proceeds are for pediatric cardiac research at the Stollery!)
If you have made something with this set, please leave me a comment so I can come see! I just ♥ all the inspiring takes I have seen so far!

Mojo Monday Valentine

A valentine made with a Mojo Monday from a couple weeks back...finally getting around to posting it! No crafting for me the last couple of days...too much work (blech!), grocery shopping and kid-oriented activities. Charlotte has her ballet presentation today and then the older kids are gonna hang out with Grandma and Grandpa (who came back for a five day visit from snowbirding in Palm Springs!) for the evening so maybe I will be able to squeak in a card!
Positive note of the day: Brad got a job offer today...yay!
