Gate Fold Card

Nancy received a RAK of a gate-fold card that measured 3" x 6.25" (i.e., each third). I was inspired to make one of my own while at the Cal-gals with some Handsome Hunter (never use that!), my Origins DP by Basic Grey and one of Nancy's PTI stamps (covet these!).

Positive note of the day: Going to get a plumber here at long-last in the AM. Hopefully, come this time tomorrow, I will no longer have any standing water in my dishwasher!

Late Posting...

Usually I pre-post but my Ave has spent the last two nights getting up every half-hour so I just ignored my computer last night. (Note: She doesn't do this with Brad...just me. I think she knows I am sucker for her crying out so she pushes the limit. Tonight, I think I will sleep in the car just to ignore her...ha ha!)

Anyway, I have another PTI card today from the Cal-gals get-together this past Friday (good thing I got a bunch done since I have no time with Spring break upon us!). I love this set but sometimes I struggle to get a good impression...I paired it with Cosmo Cricket's Nutmeg.

Positive note of the day: Here is a not-so-positive note...I guess the positive note would be, if anything, that Tristan was not maimed as a result of what he said.

This morning, as I was readying breakfast and washing the floor (again!), I asked him to bring down the hamper from upstairs so I could start a load of laundry. Once he brought it down he said, "You're so lazy making me go get the hamper". Oh my...I can brush off a lot of things that my kids say and do but this got my blood boiling. I then proceeded to ask him what I was doing right now (making him breakfast) and then railed on about my sleepless night. I then told him to apologize to me but I still don't think it resonated with him how much I was P.O.'d. See...wouldn't you have wanted to kill him too? And he is still breathing...positive note of the day!

LPS Monday - Color Challenge

Today's LPS Monday challenge is a color one! And once again, there are those colors kraft and chocolate! (Methinks one of our DT members has a real yen for those two! No matter since I love 'em lots!)

I made a card using the Sweet Stop sketch (flipped on its side) and some Origins DP from Basic Grey. The LPS stamps I used were: *Lucy Horse (digi-stamp) and {Going In Circles}.

I chose to leave the CS alone (even though I struggled with whether or not to put it through the 'bug!)...I thought there was enough going on with the textured CS and DP to leave it as is. I don't always grab yellow but this mix is making me re-think that!

Wanna play with us? Come check out the work of my fellow DT members at the LPS blog and then, stop blurfing and go raid your stash!

Positive note of the day: My kids still got up at seven despite the late night last night! My nephew (who is a "hugger") comes up to me and says "Aren't sleepovers just great Auntie?". Um, yeah...sure.

Cal-gals Challenge - CAS Sketch

It was my turn to set the challenge for our monthly Cal-gal meeting. So, I kept it easy on them and just asked them to use this week's CAS sketch.

Since I didn't feel like coloring, I brought all my ol' school Papertrey Ink stamps (the ones I bought before shipping costs made it impossible for me to rationalize purchasing from them!). Love how this turned out quickly with the incorporation of Basic Grey's Nook and Pantry!

Positive note of the day: Had fun with the kids tonight. We watched "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs". Of course, the boys didn't fall asleep until 10:30...oh no! Think of me tomorrow as I deal with those two monsters!

A Sister is a Forever Friend

This scrap page includes a mix of Martha Stewart and Daisy D's DP (the latter which I found at the dollar store for a quarter!).

The sentiment is framed by some clipart I bought from Lettering Delights.

I cut along the dotted lines of this DP to highlight some of the leaves and flowers. I added a layered button and grosgrain ribbon (using MD's fun idea!).

Positive note of the day: Had fun at the Cal-gals tonight. Got to get to bed since T and C are having a sleepover with their cousin tomorrow which usually means no sleep!

EONAC10 - Just the sentiment, ma'am!

Sue sets our challenge today and, in honor of making it to ten weeks of this challenge, she is offering up a prize! You will have to check out her blog for the deets on said prize but add your link here using that InLinkz button below!

Anyway, Sue decided we could only use a sentiment (one that you have never used or one that you haven't used in forevah) on our card. Any type of CS, DP or embellishment is just fine but no stamped images or clipart, k?

For me, this is no challenge! In fact, they may just be my fav type of card (pretty DP, some ribbon and a sentiment...how can you go wrong?). Plus, LPS has so many lovely sentiments that I have a ton at my disposal!

I used {All Occasions} with some Basic Grey's Urban Prairie DP. I added some yellow organza ribbon and lots of pretty blue pearls to accent the butterfly.

Want to Join Us? (Of course you do!)

All you have to do is create a card following the challenge rules and then come back here to link it up by Friday, April 2nd at midnight (MDT) (i.e., late Thursday night). Sue and I will be sure to check out your creations and who doesn't love a comment or two?

Positive note of the day: Got a full night's sleep last night. Love that but oh, does it ever make me crave more!

Some Gorgeous RAKs!

More eye candy to share tonight...and all of them are so pretty! Thanks so much PSFs!

Me Likeys

I haven't done a "Me Likey" post for a while...these gals are ones I follow and from which I could have picked several to showcase!
  • Love the mix of elements in both Kim and Deb's creations. They are both so unique...the eye cannot dwell on one element before finding another just as enticing!
  • Corie does not have one embellishment on hers but what a card! it's just perfect for a guy!
  • I just ♥ the creations from Dawn, Julee, Pam and Michele...they are always consistent with just the right mix of color, paper and embellishments! (Color me green!)
  • And finally, since I have the scrapping itch, look at what fellow Cal-gal Shannon makes with pictures of her cute lil' family! She does a number of two page spreads...click on the pictures to make them bigger and you will see how much she is able to embellish a page without going overboard. And they look even more fabu close up (I am always jealous!).

Scrap Page of my Nephew

I am bent and determined to get myself scrapping since I have pictures everywhere! I snapped up this one of my nephew Parry when he was a babe. He had rockets on his PJs so I went with it...

Positive note of the day: Making another layout of the girls that I quite like. Didn't go with a typical girly color scheme so it is unusual but I like it! Will share soon!

An Exercise in Photoshop Color and Texture

Given my new love of digi-coloring, I elected to try that with this new image, *Easter Egg Jena, from the Little Paper Shop. You can hardly tell here but after I colored the image in PS, I texturized her dress with the canvas texture (she is also re-sized at 80% of norm). However, I was pleased with the outcome especially since I was able to take my little kernels of PS knowledge and apply them. While I know Adobe Illustrator, I have never sat down with PS for any amount of time. I love figuring stuff out!

Positive note of the day: Gawd, I am tired today. T was home again today with his cold. Ave decided to get up every two hours last night which I pray is not signaling she will be sick soon too. Plus, I keep looking outside and dreading the spring cleanup that is oh so necessary. Positive note? Hmm...I had some super tasty pecan macaroon cookies. Yep, ate a dozen over a day and a half period!
