EONAC15 - Card Fronts!

Today's EONAC is my challenge since I am inundated with card fronts (my term for them).

What's a card front? Well, it's when you put a card together with some DP and even a layer or two with the full intention of making a card and then, there it sits. No image, no embellies...just an amalgam of paper. I do this either when I get a sketch I like (and then run out of time) or when I am making something and just get uninspired (or, conversely, inspired to do something else entirely!).

Those of you who are DP collectors gotta know how old this DCWV DP is...as such, you gotta know how long it has been sitting there taunting me. (I think on quiet nights I have heard it wept softly due to my neglect.) Anyway, I picked it up and made a thank-you card for C to give to one of her friends.

Now she may not understand a moose doing ballet but she does like all the pink! Wanna play with Sue and I? Pick up one of those card fronts and do something with it...maybe you can perk up some old DP with a brand new image! And don't forget to let us know you played by linking yourself up below!

Positive note of the day: It was the nanny's birthday today so we got her a gift card and sang with one of those decadent cupcakes (where the frosting is twice as high as the cake itself). She was quite happy since she wasn't expecting it!

SCS SC...I love me an acronym!

I made up this Christmas card using up some scrap DP from PTI and a sentiment from LPS. Finished it off with some bling and my fern punch from MS. Thank gawd most of you understand this so I don't have to write like a normal human being...

Positive note of the day: Having one long nap tonight since a) I cleaned my house late into the night last night, b) C was in my bed, A kept stirring and T peed the bed which meant a pretty restless night overall and c) the kids are off for a sleepover tonight. Yep, I know you all envy me now (esp. when you are struggling through that dinner/bath/bedtime routine). Don't worry, I will make up for it soon enough!

A Tilda with the CC!

I haven't done the SCS CC in forevah. The colors weren't particularly inspiring (Ballet Blue? Ugh!) but I thought I should expand my horizons. I colored my Tilda with Copics and chose a layout based on the scraps in my immediate reach. I think it turned out not half-bad...

Positive note of the day: Got the kids' hair cut and T traded in one of his gifts that he got two of for a table hockey set. I see a lot of those games in my future!

Another Way to Stalk...

Want some more tips to find out who has linked to you?

1. Try icerocket.com. I use two different ways to search:
  • Use my title (with a "+" between each word so that I only search for the whole phrase rather than each individual word).
  • Use my URL.
2. Use Google. Enter your search term (I use either my URL or link:URL like in the following example.)
a. Once the results display, click Show Options.
b. Click Blogs.
c. Click Sorted by Date (for the most recent).

For past tips on checking who has linked to you, see here and here.

Me Likey

Annika doesn't like this card but I love it. Go tell her she's wrong!

Should you get featured as a "Me Likey", feel free to enter the badge:

Tylosaur Thank-yous

I made these card flats for Tristan to complete his thank-yous. I have upped the ante this year with what he has to write (since he is getting better and quicker all the time) but I still gave him a template to work from. (This tylosaur is another mosasaur. Getting tired of sea dinosaurs yet?)

Positive note of the day: Ave climbed up the whole set of stairs by herself! She scared me but she was just so darn pleased with herself!

LPS Monday...A CC

Today is LPS Monday and we have a color challenge at the ready. Since we had {Angelic Jena} as a Feature Friday set this past week, it got me to thinking it would be perfect for this color challenge. I mixed it with Basic Grey's Kioshi and colored it with my Copics. Should you want to play along with this CC, hit up the LPS blog (and remember, there is always a prize awarded to one random player!).

Positive note of the day: Julia had her baby on Saturday...go congratulate her, k?

A Twisted Sketch

Wanted to make a quick and easy card...I thought the Twisted Sketch would be perfect to crank one out. I mixed it with some Basic Grey June Bug, some old Thickers and some buttons and bling. Now who I am going to send this to? Hmm...

Positive note of the day:  We had fun at T's party but I am glad this week is over...so many events to plan for and work around. I had a delicious nap afterwards and tomorrow I plan on attacking my storage room again!

Chibi Baker

Gosh April is turning out to be a busy month! This card is for my niece who turns 21 today. We are having her party tonight (i.e., Friday night) and then T has to go to a performance at school for 7:15. And don't forget that I am taking all his friends to the zoo tomorrow for his birthday...oh no!

Anyway, this image is from Angelina's site. Honestly, if you love a free digi image (and one so well done!), you must visit her blog (she has 30+ available!). Bit of an odd color palette (mixing Basic Grey's Origins and Two Scoops) but I don't think it is too scary (besides, I wanted cute but not baby cute since she is a worldly woman now...ha ha!). I also chose to pair it up with the Card Scraps sketch and enter it into this week's Oh, Alice! challenge.

Positive note of the day: Most of the party planning is done, I have a clean house, my zoo tickets are bought and my nanny helped me with some of the food prep today. Now to get us all together and out of the house by 10 AM!

EONAC14 - Clippy!

Sue took it easy on me with this challenge (and thank gawd she has ideas since I sure don't!). All you have to do is find a clip of some sort and add it on your creation. And funny enough, I made this card originally with a prima (and using the 2S4Y sketch [and yes, I know...I didn't follow it accurately...again). I took it off and added the clip and I like it a lot better now! (I don't know when I will ever find time to craft again...all these kid events are killing my creative energy!)

P.S. I used a background stamp too! I know, huh?

Wanna play? Find something clippable, make a creation and then link it up here using that InLinkz gadget below.

Positive note of the day: We had fun tonight at dinner and a movie. C had no patience for the movie but T said it was "excellent". It was nice to try something new with the older ones.

Shadow Box Page

I made this scrap page for my MIL's birthday...it is a picture of her parents from gosh, at least 25 years ago.

Sorry for the glare on this first one but once I got it into that shadow box, I was not about to take it out again!
  • I added a flourish and the "Family" that I cut with my Silhouette.
  • I created the flowers by cutting out three each (with my Silhouette and a flower image found in the basic library) and following the instructions here. (Love these. I found them much easier to make with my hot glue gun even if I suffered major injuries...bwah ha ha!)
  • I added the silk flowers (thought they kinda looked like lupines) and pearls.
Positive note of the day: T was sick (feverish and with a headache) for most of his birthday morning. He perked up during the day but then was getting tired again towards the end. We totally scored on the birthday gifts...he was quite happy with everything we tracked down for him!

BTW, for those of you who asked, this is a liopleurodon. He is estimated between 35 and 45 feet long with teeth each a foot long. Bigger than today's sperm whale, here he is chowing down on an elasmosaurus.

Card for Hockey Nut T

It's T's seventh birthday today. My boy does nothing but live and breathe hockey. Even with the Flames nowhere in sight this playoff season (boo!), he is still up to snuff on every team out there. And he plays indoor with mini sticks/nets and, when the weather cooperates, outside in full regalia. We got him an Iginla jersey (or Maginla as C calls him) for his birthday. Grandma and Grandpa got him goalie pads and C got her brother a Kiprusoff (goalie) poster for his room.

I made him a card tonight using all the digital prowess I could muster. (Note: I was inspired to go in this direction thanks to this card on SCS.)
  • I downloaded the Calgary Flames logo.
  • I downloaded a jersey SVG from SVG Cuts (great site).
  • I opened both in Illustrator and then pasted the home jersey picture (on the right here) so that I could study it and add the details as I went along.
  • Once I was happy with my approximation, I printed it off and then cut around the edges to create this shaped card.
  • Lastly, I threaded some twine around the collar to give it the look of the tie around the neck.
Positive note of the day: I found the only liopleurodon in the city way up in the north! Yay!

LPS CC and a Happy Heart

So I promised myself I would complete the LPS color challenge for this week. I am still in a scrappy mood (with piles of photos everywhere) so I elected to create one with my Ave all dressed in pink. The title "Happy Heart" seemed apropos since she is usually in a good mood, and well, a day doesn't go by where I don't think about her "heart". And, weirdly enough, I used the Card Patterns sketch for this scrappy creation.

LPS Stamp Set Used: {In Love}

Positive note of the day: Gosh, I enjoy ending my evening with Jon Stewart. I love acerbic, politically-infused humor. He could just talk to me all night...IYKWIM...

P.S. At the LPS store, and effective April 19 - 30, customers can enter the code BIRTHDAY at the checkout for 15% off their entire order (including new releases and digis). It is valid on retail purchases through the website only.

This looked fun...

Vicky at Clips-N-Cuts is celebrating 100 posts and is inviting all of us to connect. She wants to try for 1000 crafty bloggers to link up via the script below. When you add the script to your blog, it will automatically display a thumbnail collection of the blogs which will be updated whenever a new blogger is added. Should you want to participate too:

LPS Preview #3 - {Rose}

Oh my, I enjoyed making this card...simple yet with some extra touches...

I used {Behind the Scenes} for the white panel, the leaves and flower from {Rose} and the sentiment from {Floral Wishes}. With the flower, I stamped it three times and then popped up the layers with a thin layer of dimensionals. To given it that modern touch, I added rounded corners. All I have to say is yum!

Want to win a $10 gift certificate to the LPS store? All you have to do is comment on ALL the DT members blogs today (head to the LPS blog for a full list) for a chance to be entered in the random drawing for the gift certificate. We are hopping from place to place...you should have got here from Ann's blog! Your next stop on the hop is glittery Jen!

Plus, since it is also LPS Monday, we have a color challenge to play along with (I will have to post mine tomorrow since while I made a card for today's preview, I totally forgot about the color challenge!). Should you choose to play along, you will have another chance at winning an LPS prize! (And these colors rock, IMO.)

One last LPS plug: Effective April 19 - 30, customers can enter the code BIRTHDAY at the checkout for 15% off their entire order (including new releases and digis). Note: It is valid on retail purchases through the website only.

Positive note of the day: May have found a lead on a liopleurodon (an aquatic dinosaur) that I can get for T's birthday (it is a big want on his list!)...hope the store still has some! Plus, we have decided to take the two older kids to see Disney's Oceans on Earth Day (our first movie at the theatre evah!).
