LPSC70 - A Sketch!

Today's LPS challenge is a sketch...my fav kinda challenge. Since a lot of my stamps were still boxed up, I elected to use a stamp set I could find! I brought out one of LPS' first sets: {The Hunter}. I haven't figured out whether this will be a birthday card (my dad is coming out this week so I may give it to him as a long-belated one) or as a Father's Day card. I mixed some Soft Suede DP with some Basic Grey Mellow (such an odd pattern on this paper but it went well here). I gave up on adding a sentiment and just added some cheapy brads instead (which just happen to match the Soft Suede...what luck!).

Positive note of the day: We almost finished the house today. Had it not been for the paint for the front room (it had hardened entirely and was unusable), we would be ready to get it on the market. Nonetheless, we are almost there and I hope (x 1000) it doesn't sit for long...

Going 80s Today

This is C's fav card of the ones I made at our monthly Cal-gals meeting at Friday. She has decided it will be the birthday card she gives on Saturday (at but another party!). I used the sketch from Don't Waste Your Thursdays!.

Positive note of the day: Knock on wood and the house will be ready for sale by the end of today!

Double Challenge

Today, the Little Paper Shop is sponsoring both the Oh, Alice! challenge (swirls) and the Card Patterns sketch. So here is my card!

I used the digi stamp *Alice from LPS. I opened it in Photoshop to color it, added a flourish from a brush that I had installed forevah ago and added the sentiment "Curiouser and curiouser...". I then mixed it with some Basic Grey Romani and DCWV CS.
Positive note of the day: Pre-posting this before Cal-gals. Gawd, I need a break. Avery is at the age when she is into everything. Today I vacuumed up cat litter twice (the second happening after I just got the vacuum put away again). And then, Charlotte decided to spread her excess red nail polish on the granite countertop. I am sure they are trying to kill me. I think I just need some downtime before one of them pushes me over the edge. (P.S. Most of this is said "tongue in cheek" even if I do think I need a month long nap!)

EONAC19 - A Sketch w/ Retired SU!

So Sue has decided she wants us to use this week's SCS SC282 with a retired SU stamp/set.

Now, in the spirit of EONAC, I did my best to pull out as much old stash as I could. The paper...eh, not so much. But the stamps and ribbon sure are! I have been organizing my stamps on a separate page to remind myself to use them already! When I saw "Wild About You", I thought it was time (particularly since I felt it could go well with this paper). Maybe I am just getting a real head start on my Valentines!

Don't forget to let us know you played by linking yourself up below!

Positive note of the day: It snowed today...for srsly. Ugh. And we are supposed to get 20 cm overnight. Hopefully C will still have a fun time on her field trip today to Heritage Park...she is so excited (especially since she gets to take a lunch and ride on the big school bus). We picked up umbrellas at the dollar store to make the field trip a little more tolerable (which is fine since I am sure the kids will trash them soon enough no matter what the cost)!

Three Kitty Birthday

Made another card with one of Angelique's free images and some ol' Heidi Grace DP. Gosh, I am tired again today...having three kids means non-stop action. Seriously...if you have two and are thinking "Well, maybe...", consider this fair warning!

Positive note of the day: Our butterflies came out of their chrysalises today!

SC282 - Capella Sympathy

Made a card tonight since it seems like forevah since I crafted. What a pain in the @$$ when all your stuff is scattered everywhere...some in boxes, some strewn across the floor, some MIA... Anyway, I managed to get it done with old school SU (Song birds) and a Gina K sentiment. Peace out, homies.

Positive note of the day: You know my idiotic pension for cleaning? Well, I have loads of it. The kids' room (the two oldest WJs are sharing right now) is done after a re-org. I just need another lower closet bar for Charlotte so she doesn't break every hanger we own tearing clothes down for her umpteen changes per day.

LPS Monday - Color Challenge

So today's LPS Challenge is a mix of three colors: kraft, blue and pink...this was harder than I thought!

This is Katie Whale done up on a Joy fold card. Couldn't even tell you where the DP comes from since it has been sitting in the ol' stash forever. Seriously, I am spending time this week cleaning up my paper...I must!

So are you curious what the rest of the DT with these colors (I am!)? Head on over to the LPS blog!

Positive note of the day: Well, due to changing economic circumstances, we are listing this house this week. We are all moving in together to ease the challenges of showing a house with three little kids. The house is my in-laws old house which is on the end of a cul-de-sac. All three kids love this area so much since they can play out front without cars zooming by. Moreover, there are a ton of kids that live close. For T especially, this is not only ideal but necessary (at seven, that boy needs to be run!). He plays hockey for hours but also finds other things to do with his friends. Charlotte plays cheerleader (despite the chill in the air this week, she wore her bathing suit all weekend) but does take part in the various activities (I think she really does live and breathe the moniker of "Julie, your cruise director" that I have given her).

Don't know any more about what will happen but am taking it moment to moment and day to day. And, should you have anything negative to share, don't bother. I am already stressed enough (eczema breakout) and really don't need to hear it...

ETA: I am overall positive about the move. We have done a great deal to improve the whole situation (just in case this reads negative...it shouldn't). However, change is a challenge and moving ain't no picnic.

Puppy Hurts My Teeth from the Sweetness!

Tried out today's Card Patterns sketch with another free image from Angelique (seriously cute!). Given the subject matter I felt I just had to pull out Basic Grey's Max and Whiskers...cute too!

Positive note of the day: Just a mix of fun little things with the kids. Ave was "on me" which was a little challenging, C wanted lots of Mama time for dancing and crafting and then T, C and I went to the garden centre to look for trees.

Friday Housekeeping

  • Today's Friday LPS Feature is Blessings. Pam almost always makes a new card to showcase and then chooses the prettiest ones from the gallery to highlight!
  • Tomorrow is "Take Your Kids to the Park and Leave Them There" Day. I am so in favour of free-range parenting...my kids need it and so do I! If you are interested in relaxing the reigns, go read Lenore's blog, take solace in others who feel the same and don't worry!
  • Have a good one. T is home for the day and we have to tackle a model of the Taipei 101 tower...WTH?!?

EONAC18 - Punches and a Sketch!

So it was Sue's suggestion that we pull out a couple of punches, some old DP and make a card. When I suggested that we use this week's FTL #90 (inspired by Becky's punch card), we decided that we would have a combined challenge (and I hope Natasha and Becky don't mind that we stole their thunder!).

So the deal is, if you want to play along with us, you must pull out some old DP...scraps that you have held on to for far too long! I am using some ol' K and Co. Amy Butler paper. I love this stuff and have quite an assortment of it...too bad I didn't use more of it up on this card! My only beef with this card is that I feel like my sentiment is floating with nothing to ground it. Perhaps if I had the layer on the way Becky did, it would feel "finished". Oh well, got's no time so it is going on the blog!

Don't forget to let us know you played by linking yourself up below!

Positive note of the day: Didn't get peed on like yesterday. Got some areas of the house cleaned up (and pitched more stuff when the kids weren't looking). Now just cross your fingers for me that Ave has a half-decent night tonight...she was up every half-hour last night!

Making a Card Set

Hi y'all...

I am making card sets for the kids' teachers as an end of the school year gift. Here's how I am switching it up from previous years...instead of making ten cards that are all the same, I am gonna make ten cards that are different but "feel" similar. By this I mean, I am choosing a paper pack (in this case, Basic Grey's Perhaps) from which I will make all ten cards. I will mix that DP with a relatively simple sketch, some embellies and then just a sentiment. Here's the first one...

This way, I can have a pretty card set that doesn't bore me to tears to create! (And BTW, as simple as this was, I only made one card tonight. I will be probably that strapped for time for the rest of the school year!)

Positive note of the day: Avery was a giggly fool on the baby swing today. Sweet!

Inchie Pear

I played with the free digi image that Julia provided through the Little Paper Shop NING forum for the month of February. I erased one of the pears, the sentiment and then colored it in. I then scaled it to inchie size so I could try my hand at one of the Inchie INKlings sketches. This is different for me which is good...I need different!

Positive note of the day: I am such a slacker. I rely way too much on the nanny so, when she is sick, phew! My full-time mommy hat was on today and I am so not used to it! I think that is why I used to schedule lots of play dates, get out in the garden and shop for groceries during the daytime. Trying to balance Ave's naptime, C's ballet class, picking up T and then making sure I get milk (I need my own cow in the backyard!) was almost impossible. If it wasn't for my MIL taking C to ballet, Ave's nap would have been about 20 minutes (instead of 45...way too short!). I like getting my work done and not worrying about having to run a kid somewhere without it affecting another one. Plus, I must admit, the monotony is a little unbearable. (Shh!)

Another Quick Page

It's another one of those "I got nothing" days. Oh my but does my life tire me out sometimes. Ave has hayfever so she is waking up lots at night right now. Needless to say, I am tired too!

Here's a cute one of C...love the close up of her - it is so quintessentially C! (Sorry...I forget where I got it from! I will update with the link here later!)

Positive note of the day: Got all the stickers off the boy's window finally. Ugh. Stickers should be banned!

LPS Monday - Bwah ha ha!

So why do I start off my LPS Monday with an evil cackle? Because I set the DT challenge this month for which I have been roundly castigated! And guess what I made them do? Scrap a page...hee hee!

I have used LPS stamps to scrap the following pages in the past (I am rehashing them here just to prove you can use stamps in your scrappy creations!) and have been enjoying the switch lately (esp. since I and the kids get to look back at the pages again and again!).

I used {Father} with a picture of Ave and her grandpa. I am thinking I will give this to him as a present for Father's Day (if I can bear to part with all this Origins loveliness!).

So want to see the rest of the DT creations (and listen to all their belly aching?)...head on over to the LPS blog! And you can guarantee, I am going to be in even bigger trouble today!

Positive note of the day: What a gorgeous day we had. I love it when spring finally comes to Calgary. A little rain and all that green appears! T and I (the girls came too but they were not as impressed) hit the garden centre just as it was opening for the season on Friday (all of you who live in much warmer climes can laugh now). We got a hanging planter of strawberries, a new tomato container (we have more luck in containers than in the clay-like soil here) and a lavender "tree". I think we were almost giddy with all the plants...he and I could easily spend my monthly pay cheque every time we go!

P.S. I love lavender (ever since I went to the Australian pavilion at Expo '86 in Vancouver where the whole place smelled of it)...I had to share this gorgeous pic I tripped across.

Baby Card Set

My MIL needed some new baby cards so I used this week's ESS sketch and my Pink Cat digital image to make three blue ones and three pink ones! Can you tell I colored all six in with PS again? Gawd, I love that for mass producing (gonna do that for my teacher cards this year!).

(P.S. Melissa provided the sentiment for free...me likey!)
Positive note of the day: Had my GFs over tonight for snacks and chats...fun!

DIVA

How perfect is this? I had done up Charlotte's hair for "Crazy Hair Day" at preschool (I backcombed, teased and hairsprayed it!). I then told her I wanted to get some pics before she left...look at this pose she gave me (she is ready for the European runway)! Then, a couple of days ago, my eye caught this glittery DIVA chipboard at the dollar store and knew I had to make this page...♥ it so!

Positive note of the day: Yesterday was crappy in so far as I found out that one of my distant relatives took her own life. I was shook largely because, as a mother, I cannot imagine making such a choice. She leaves three kids (the oldest is 14) and they will have that scar forever.

As flawed beings, we make mistakes with our kids (believe me, some days I think I am the poster child!). And while I am sure there is a whole context underlying this that I will never understand, I just can't help but think that no matter what your burden, you should carry it and never transfer it onto such small shoulders.

It did make me cherish my afternoon with the kids. Later, when I dropped the kids off with Brad, Charlotte wanted to spend extra time with me. So we went home, shared a quesadilla, watched Barbie in a Fish Tail and then went to Toys R' Us and bought some Fancy Nancy books.

EONAC17 - Brads Galore!

Today's EONAC (set by Sue) is to use up those brads and boy did I take her up on the challenge! I used the Limelight sketch (although I did not have any appropriate primas to add so I went with the sled image) and my MS scalloped edge punch. Then I put a copper brad in every large hole and some around the image...enough brads for ya? I am thinking I could have embossed the copper cardstock but it was just shimmery I thought I might be going overboard. Seeing it here on the blog makes me re-think that though...

Wanna play with Sue and I? Find some brads and add them to your creation (I am so used to my "bling" that I almost lost all my fingernails on those prongs!). And don't forget to let us know you played by linking yourself up below!

Positive note of the day: Ave's physio went alright. She is performing at about 60-70% of her range on the right side. She has to do exercises to work on her abductor muscles and turning her right hand to a full pivot (i.e., with her palm exposed fully).

I had my nephews last night for an extended play date. Those of you who have five kids...I just don't know how you do it! And there is 18 months between each of the cousins (1, 2 1/2, 4, 7, and 8 1/2)...they could have technically been all mine and that is just insane. I guess I will never be a Duggar!
