Some "Just for Grins" Candy

I have a couple of stamps sets that I am gonna give away since a) my gal-pal Julia (owner of the Little Paper Shop) sent me an extra Lucy Elf set and b) my Cal-gal pal Shannon gave me a Hanna Stamps set that I still have not cracked (and wasn't likely too anytime soon!).

So if you would like a fall and Christmas stamp set for your collection, drop your name in the hat. I'll pick one out next Sunday evening (late!) and mail it out.

Jovial Mojo Monday

I got a chance to do the Mojo Monday sketch tonight (well, I made time when I probably should have been working. Shh!). I mixed this free digi poinsettia (found here) with this pretty Jovial paper.
Positive note of the day: Another fun day awaits. My costume is this sorceress item that I picked up from Wal-Mart. However, if I didn't have a t-shirt under it, I would be scandalous! (I swear they only make some clothes for flat-chested chicks!)

P.S. That ain't me...ha!

A year ago today: A pretty anniversary card with Bittersweet!

Mama and Her Boy

This is one of my fav pics of Tristan and I. This image isn't clear here given it's size, but it is IRL.

I elected to made a Christmas layout with Basic Grey's June Bug. While I do like it, I was puzzled about how to "finish" it. I ended up adding all these itty-bitty rub-ons in the "grey space". I am slowly stretching my wings with scrapping so everyone is a new challenge!

Positive note of the day: Today is my nephew's ninth birthday...where does the time go?!

A year ago today: A pretty card in Ambrosia!

A Boy Tag and A Girl Tag

I made a couple of easy gift tags using some stickers in my stash. (Note: If you never saw my trick for making your own pinked edges with your scallop nesties, see here!)

Boy tag featuring snowman stickers from Doodlebug:

Girl tag featuring Cosmo Cricket's Golly by Jolly DP and sticker.

Positive note of the day: Had an evening out with Brad (well, my evening ended at eight since I had to relieve my MIL as babysitter)...we had some drinks and played pool...fun. While I was there, I got an e-mail from my nanny who finally quit on me. Well, it's time to go find another one!

A year ago today: Made Brad a birthday card featuring Quagmire...ha!

'Morning...I Mean Good Afternoon!

Last night I went to bed at seven with all the intentions of getting up after a couple of hours. Well, you guessed it...I got up at 7:30 this morning. I volunteered in C's class this morning making dozens of pumpkin muffins. Now I am home (C and Ave are over at G and G's), I have a headache (since I am about six cups of tea behind!) and I have to work and make cupcakes for C's Halloween party tomorrow. A mommy's work is never quite done!

Here's a card I made the night before last with SC304. This is some very ol' K and Co. DP from my pal Jen (who is "this close" to giving birth!) and my old Stampendous Poppies stamp (I just love this one!).

ETA: I used Lipstick Red and Lipstick Orange Copics for the poppies.

Positive note of the day: We got our new carpet yesterday...yay! Ding-dong, the crappy carpet is dead!

A year ago today: Another sympathy card? Yikes!

A Much Neglected Set...

Here's another one of those "how did that card happen?" creations. I just started putting stuff together (a Basic Grey Dasher mat mixed with a punched layer of Basic Grey Oliver). I then decided to go vertical and searched for a stamp set that would mingle well with my paper and layout choices. Out came the Snowflake Spot which I think totally works here! I added a few rub-ons in the corner and a button mix (placed in a unique spot) and called it done!

Positive note of the day: Had playtime with Ave today. Charlotte got her toe lanced and an antibiotic prescribed for an infection around her nail bed. Brad was home from work so I throttled back for the afternoon. Could totally use a nap!

A year ago today: Made a sympathy card and had hired a nanny. Hmm...where is she this week though?!

Anatomy of a Family Portrait Session

Here's our family portrait session I spoke of last week with my thoughts on each. You will notice I could have just put a cardboard cutout of Brad in these since he has that "perfect" look going on in each. Bastard.

Sharing Another Gift Card Holder...

Yes, it's another toilet paper roll gift holder (someone recently told me that whenever they go to the bathroom now, they think of me. Um, thanks?). This one is all cute with this image I stole from Nancy forevah ago.

Positive note of the day: Got the kids' skating lessons set up finally. They start this Saturday and go for eight weeks. Brad took them out and got them skates and helmets (phew!). We have a very busy weekend looking at us!

A year ago today: Made my nephew's birthday card and we were all sick! Re-reading that post brought it all flashing back!

Kids In Cowtown Post

My post went live over at the Kids in Cowtown blog...come have a peek, k?

P.S. We love comments too! Grins!

LPS Monday - Another Sketch from Me!

Today's LPS Monday is another sketch challenge that I did forevah ago! I paired up this image and sentiment from the set Moments with all this autumnal Pyrus (from Basic Grey, of course).

Finished it off with some rust grosgrain ribbon, machine stitching and green buttons!

Should you want to play along with the challenge this week, hit up the LPS blog (remember, there is always a prize given to a random participant!). Remember, Little Paper Shop stamps aren't necessary to play, so come on over!

Positive note of the day: Got caught up on my sleep which is necessary since I am facing another week without a nanny...ugh.

Being 3

Yep, here's another layout from some time back (still working on a discussion of all the various computers on our explosive detection systems...buh-ring!). Anyhoo, this is a pic of T when he was in his first year of preschool (now almost five years ago!). If you look closely, you can see the pink around his lips...he chews on them at the beginning of every new school year which I chalk up to nerves. (Note: He has done the same thing this past week with his recent cold...he looks horrible when he does this!)

Being 3

Positive note of the day: Yummy dinner and cake for B's birthday. Plus, I was super productive today...who knew?

Starting Some Christmas Tags

I got nothing peeps! So, I will bring out this ol' tag I made about a month ago. Today is a day of working, dealing with my cold and the always unwanted arrival of Aunt Flo (snicker). Peace out, homies!

Joy Tag
P.S. Now that's an old SU! snowman, ain't it?

Positive note of the day: Today's Brad's birthday party (all family) at his parents. Will have to put my "smiley face" on despite feeling under the weather but there is cake involved!

Traditional Christmas Layout

I made this layout during Avery's twenty minute quiet time today. (She has fully abandoned her naps but walks around whining after lunch most days. I think the quiet time is more for my sake than hers!) This is Charlotte at two...can you tell how much she idolizes her big brother here? (And yep, it didn't last long!)

Traditional Christmas Layout

Positive note of the day: Got our family portrait done tonight...I think I am going to do it that way more often (at the school gym where we were in and out in no time!). Cross your fingers that there was at least one good pose!

SCS SC303

Been working late night to keep up with my document assignments. I made this card at one in the morning...and yes, I paid for it today...ha!

Details: Two Scoops by Basic Grey and DCWV DP/CS. Stamp from Pink Cat Studio.

Positive note of the day: Some nuttiness from Ave and C if you're interested...

PTI Sympathy

I made this simple card at Cal-gals after the scariness of that color challenge that Tracy had set earlier in the evening. This card is much more to my liking...and I just love this PTI set!

CAS Sympathy

Positive note of the day: Avery is such a delight. She gets so excited at small things like collecting leaves and branches on our walk home from dropping the kids at school. Trying to explain to her that you cannot put the branches and leaves back together is a bit of a challenge though.

Me Likey

A Me Likey for my gal-pal Jana...isn't this Pure Innocence scene just stunning? And not only that, what a fun play on the sentiment too...loves it!

Should you get picked as a "Me Likey" and want to add the badge, just add this code to your sidebar:<div style="text-align:center"><a href="http://stampinwhenican.blogspot.com/"><img border="0" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_AV7rYTbAdUs/Sv2yrf99SeI/AAAAAAAATRw/FeKfxT3ykJ0/91196624.jpg"/></a><br/></div>

A late posting...

So I pulled an all-nighter on Sunday night (my boss has weekend freakouts. Sometimes it's easier to mollify him and know that I can just write the rest of the week without him having a meltdown. Ha!). Anyway, my plan was to catch some winks on Monday and then work in the afternoon. Well, guess what? No nanny. And, no nanny today either. Ave and I just got back from dropping the kids off, going to her play class, getting groceries, going to the park and then picking up C! Phew!

So, here's a card I made some time ago since it looks I will not be haunting my craft cave for awhile. Another Pure Innocence cutie!

PTI Banner Girl

Positive note of the day: I am sharing my purple cutie in celebration of the "Purple Army" victory. The candidate I supported (even donated to him...my first time ever!) won. I am so excited since he is quite the change from the same ol' Tory blue that has dominated this city for decades. And as one tweeter put it last night, "...for once, my vote wasn't thrown away!".

Congrats to Naheed Nenshi, our new mayor...here's hoping you can get that budget squared away and move on to promoting some of your campaign promises! (The city is running a 60 million dollar deficit. Like Obama, he will have to make some quick decisions which I am sure will not make everyone happy. I would not want to be in his shoes!)
