My First InStyle Stamps Creation

This is my first card as a member of the InStyle Stamps Chickies! And this image seemed like the perfect one to use to create a Valentine for my C. She loves girly stamps and is always stealing any of my stamped images to color! (Sometimes I lose all my craft time when she decides she wants to make a card since she requires a great deal of supervision around my craft supplies!)

To begin on this card making adventure, I chose this sketch from the Critter Sketch Challenge Blog. I then set to color in this digi image Mom Love in Photoshop since I am officially addicted to digital paper piecing. (Note: Should you want to try out digital paper piecing, check out my video tutorial and/or my written tutorial.)

I chose Basic Grey's Sugar Rush (such a neat departure from simple pinks and reds for Valentine's Day) and set to decking her out. Once I printed her off, I highlighted her hair with my Buttercup Yellow Copic (to accentuate the flat color from the printer...the girl needed her hair did!).

I matted her on die-cuts (done with my Spellbinders Labels 1) with dimensionals. I then added some dots with my Rangers Inkssentials gel pen (the best white pen I have tried). I added the last of my 1/4" orange grosgrain (sigh...I need to do a ribbon run for srsly!) and tied a bow. I added the mat of blue-y DP (cut with my octagonal Spellbinders). I laid down the image mat and then got to work on the embellies.

I used Joanne's rolled flowers tut at SCS. Out of the four I made, there two were the ones that actually were good enough for the card. I then added these faux dew drops (from the dollar store), rounded my corners and called it a day!

Positive note of the day: Avery had her eye test today. Despite the wandering eye, he did not see the need for any immediate intervention. We are still in the queue for the opthamologist at the hospital and just have to keep an eye on her to see if it is getting better or worst over the next year.
