Me in Pyrus!

Yesterday it was a Gorjuss card, today it's a gorgeous layout (ha ha!). This is a pic of me in 1998 when Brad and I had been together about six months and we went to Ontario to meet the parentals. We went in October so we were able to see all the fall colors. I was right in my element...I loved the rich colors of these florals (I think this pic was at Niagara Falls even). So seeing this huge sticker floral element from my Pyrus collection (reconfigured for an 8 x 8 layout), I love how it turned out since it really plays well with the photo.

Positive note of the day: I am wiped! Sitting in a training class can be so sleep-inducing (even if I try to pinch myself to stay awake, I still find my head lolling around). I will be so glad once I have completed my certification exam tomorrow!

Gorguss Pyrus

I like pretty much everything about this card (which is a lot for me to say since I am self-critical to a fault). I love the paper, the colors, the image and how the elements came together for this autumnal vibe. I combined it with the sketch (flipped on its side) from OCL.

Positive note of the day: I had the best cannelloni today but I think I ate a pound of butter in the process...good grief!

Weekly Sketches - Week of May 23rd

Avery the Party Animal

A bright and colorful layout of Ave and her cousin Kiernan at his birthday party last October. His birthday falls the day before Halloween so it is always a costume party. He was Luigi and Ave was Mickey Mouse (even if she never wore the ears!). They all had a doughnut eating contest where they had to eat it off the string with no hands...Ave cheated but she is not to be stopped when carbs are involved!
Positive note of the day: I am hoping that my training class that starts in the morning is good. I best go to bed right now so I don't nod off (shh!).

Boyish C Layout

I created this layout of C with what I would call "boy paper"...Basic Grey's Wander on a base of dark green cardstock. I like it esp. with this picture of her offset grin.

Positive note of the day: In a mood today. Don't know why. Don't know what to do to get out of it. Crafting? Shoe shopping? Movie? Hmm...I guess when Tristan tells me that he thinks I enjoy cleaning and making him lunch, things are a little awry.

Playing in Paradise Challenge 17

It's my turn again to host the Playing in Paradise challenge. As always (since they are my fav), I have a sketch that can be used for either a square card or a layout. I chose to create a layout with lots of old stash and this pretty picture of Ave where I commemorate her smile (since at this time next Friday, she may not have any of her teeth to show off! Sigh!).

Old Stash Used (For Srsly!):
  • DCWV Nana's Nursery 12 x 12 (Girl)
  • Bling and grosgrain ribbon from stash
  • Brides' Flowers
  • SU! edger punch and corner rounder

Here are the rest of the team's sites for more creative inspiration!
Positive note of the day: Bought some new stash tonight...shh! I need more paper like I need a hole in the head.

Take My Breath Away!

With this Curio paper pad, I am finding it real hard to pair it with anything but a sentiment stamp. The paper is super pretty but pretty distinctive in that it really doesn't match up with too many of the image stamps I have in my collection. No matter...this one is done...

Positive note of the day: Working out the details for Ave's surgery next week. Glad it is almost here so we can get it over with!

CAS Ice Cream Cone Card

Isn't that ice cream cone too cute? I used the CAS sketch this week with stickers and DP from Basic Grey's Life of the Party. I finished it off with a punched strip (featuring drippy goo!) and some twine from the Twinery.

Positive note of the day: I am glad I am home now. Rough day with a lot of work changes to deal with and my feet were hurting. I am sitting on the couch watching "In the Night Garden" for about the millionth time but at least I am doing close to nothing right now... And Ave is always so cute when she sings along with the Tittifers...

Quite the Pear!

I used the Peachy Keen sketch to make a simple anniversary card featuring Basic Grey's Pyrus DP and stickers.

Now I need to write and FINISH my training plan today. Peace out homies!

Positive note of the day: My new pants fit so well. They are a "menswear trouser" type which I didn't expect to like nor that they would sit so nicely on my hips and rear but they do the trick!

Tristan's Preschool Class

I made this layout featuring Crate Paper's School Spirit and the class photo when Tristan was three and in his first year of preschool. Look at all those boys! Cute!

Positive note of the day: Kids yesterday played outside all afternoon with their cousins yesterday...both they and their parents appreciated it (esp. since today it has done nothing but rain!).

Weekly Sketches

Mojo Monday Off the Rails!

When I began this card, I started with the Mojo Monday sketch but then it just did not turn out at all in keeping with the sketch. It's cute though with these Amber Ink bunnies (I LA'd the tails), lots of Basic Grey's Hopscotch papers and an SU! sentiment.

Positive note of the day: The cousins are coming over today and I hope they run my kids ragged!

Another Scrap Page

I had to scan this picture of my niece (now 22!) with Grandpa and then fix it in Photoshop since it had scratches and red eyes (and it was from 1989!). This was another scrap page that was part of Grandma's birthday present. (I always give her lots of scrap pages since she has everything. It is a good "deadline" for me to get stuff together finally!)

Positive note of the day: Got three pairs of dress pants for work for 85 bucks...score!

Playing in Paradise Challenge Sixteen

Today's Playing in Paradise challenge was set by Julie who told us we could only use black and white! I used a stamp from Nancy, paper from Nancy and snowflake dies from Nancy. But no, this is not Nancy's card...ha ha! The supplies that are mine is the doily, the lace, the buttons and the twine so that counts, right? I was worried about this challenge but I like how it came out!

Here are the rest of the team's sites for more creative inspiration!
Positive note of the day: Got some blue heels today. Still looking for a pair of brown flats that I would like.

    Hello my pretties...

Even if I eventually end up talking just to myself on this blog, I will still pretend you are all here... This blog seems to be just another one of those things on my list that gets a little attention but not near as much as I would like. Don't get me wrong...going back to work was a great move for me. Each day I feel more confident and have shook a lot of the cobwebs out with all the things I learn about the company I work for and the expectations that come with a managerial position.

This is my "Merlie" card. After watching her make a card with her flower punches, I created some too (although my card has a radically different design and color scheme. I love those flowers and now I think I might have to track down that bigger flower punch (since I already have the little one!). Oh yeah...that stamp is from Nancy and so are the pearls...I pretty much steal everything from the Cal-gals when given a chance!

Positive note of the day: Got some news about Ave. Good news but still part of the spectrum of challenges we are dealing with...

    On to my second job...

The lion's share of the people I work with are in their late 30s/early 40s. Very few of them have kids so they may not appreciate the calm of our work environment. I certainly do especially once I am here with the cacophony of the WJs. So I am home now hanging out with Ave before bed (C is out with Daddy doing a run to the dump and T is watching dogfights from the Six Day War downstairs on YouTube [he has tested my memory of that quick battle between Egypt and Israel. Now he wants the whole background story on the Iran-Iraq war of the eighties...time to pull out my old history texts!]).

Anyway, I will make this quick so Avery isn't pulled into the vortex of Treehouse programming! Here's a page I made a few nights ago when it struck me I would have twenty minutes to do it. And yes, shortly after finishing up the page with some rounded corners, I was back outside with the kids doing more garden stuff!

Tristan at two in black and white!
Positive note of the day: Made some good headway on one of my work projects today!
