Challenging Layouts

I found these layouts to be quite the challenge...I just didn't know how to finish them. Oh well, sometimes you just gotta stop (esp. since I got to get to bed for another long day of work!).

Positive note of the day: Kids are all done school today...they are so enthralled with the idea of doing a lot of nothing!

No Boy Layout Today!

We had some new neighbours move in two doors down on the weekend. Since C was in a mood to bake (she is always in that mood!), we made up some of the lemon cookies that Maria had on her blog this weekend. Oh my...these are good. We got so many compliments (and they are super easy to make!). Using this tutorial from Angie (of course, I don't think I followed it as I should!), we packed them up in this bag I made with Basic Grey's Urban Prairie, an American Crafts stamp and some embellies.

Positive note of the day: Re-orged parts of my kitchen yesterday to make it more functional. Bought the second season of Drop Dead Diva (damn you Netflix!).

Weekly Sketches - Week of June 20th

You Are Gonna Get Sick of Me...

I went on a tear and created a bunch of masculine themed layouts this weekend. So a) the next few days will not have cards and b) it will be extremely boyish around here. Oh well...I found these to be challenging and I was able to revisit some of my collections that are more to the darker end of the color palette.

Speaking of dark, I mixed Wander DP on these two pages on a black BG (which I never reach for!). This is T with his best friend (on the street...they are all geographically dependent). They both went out this day with their hockey shirts on (Jake sports his Blackhawks shirt while T has his bright yellow Flames one!) and I caught them sitting next to each other on the lawn so I captured some pics and then made them pose for one with their faces!

Positive note of the day: Got all my work projects in the front and back yards completed yesterday...phew!

Double Scrap Page of T

I am making more double pages of the kids since I have a slew of photos to scrap (and I tend to print far too many of the same "theme" [having digital cameras just allows us to have four pictures when one would do!]). This one is from a couple years ago when we first visited the Canadian army's setup at the Stampede (we have to go there first now whenever we get to the grounds). T was able to try out the clothing, check out the guns and sit in a CF-16. Although his dad is not too happy with his enchantment with the history of the military, there seems to be no stopping me (I just bought him another huge tome on jet fighters [I dissuaded him from another WWII book since his dad would flip!]).

P.S. Used lots of Wander DP from Basic Grey. The circles all over the BG are a simple touch but are a great way to touch up a masculine theme! (Would work on a card too!)

Positive note of the day: C had her kindergarten graduation today. She is complaining that she still has two days of school left! Oh my...wait till that girl encounters "real life"!

Playing in Paradise - Christmas in June

It's time for another Playing in Paradise challenge. Nancy, my fellow Cal-gal, has set a challenge of Christmas in June! Thankfully this card did not take too long to put together since I have been run ragged by life this week (lots of doctor appointments and end of the school year activities!).

Stash Used:

Here are the rest of the team's sites for more creative inspiration!
Positive note of the day: I rode my bike back and forth to the train station. One of the inclines almost killed me but I am here to tell the tale!

Family...

I made this "FAMILY" project with a Cosmo Cricket lacing kit I picked up last summer when I was out in Ontario. I am glad I finally got around to doing it...I gave it to my in-laws for Father's Day.

Positive note of the day: I so look forward to the day when my kids are passed out as teenagers. Avery is screaming her head off as I write this and it gets on my last nerve. She has physio in the morning so she needs to go to bed right now...

My blog is acting funny...

Comments are not displaying. The posts show only one per page and I have no feed issued at present. I have been trolling the interwebs and have not found any "known issues". If you have had some troubles, can you please leave me a comment? I am befuddled at what's up with Blogger...grr!

A Star Album for My Nanny

I asked my nanny to send me pictures of her girls so that I could make up a star album for her. Most of the pictures featured really bright clothing so I matched it with this bright DP.

It is hard to think too long about her being her taking care of my kids while her parents take care of her children on the other side of the globe. She doesn't even know whether they will ever even come to Canada until they are done their schooling. It is all so depressing but she does what she can to give her whole family a better life by sending a good deal of her paycheque back home. And I do what I can to give my family a better life by having her as a caregiver instead of shuttling them to a dayhome (not that I am laying judgement...I think all us gals should avoid too much finger pointing about your life choices. Whether you stay home with your kids, work from home or deal with a commute to go elsewhere, we are all doing our best. Anything else is just conjecture and pride.)

In the meantime, we try to do things for her as best we can and this is just a little token so she can have something besides these pictures on her phone...

Positive note of the day: Been watching Drop Dead Diva on Netflix. I am enjoying wasting my time that way!
