All five of us got hit with a GI bug this weekend. Brad and I just made it through the other side (those kids bounce back a lot quicker than we do!) and then Ave had her MRI today.

We have had nothing but fun for the last few days!

Scrapping a Quote

I thought I might start scrapping ideas or quotes that were important to me. This one from Alice Walker is probably a core philosophy of mine. The full quote reads:

In nature, nothing is perfect and everything is perfect. Trees can be contorted, bent in weird ways, and they're still beautiful.

I am contorted and bent in weird ways. So is everyone else. And I think it is appreciating everyone (but especially my children) for their contortions that is an inner driver. I do hope it is could be a driver for the people I touch since lord knows I need all the breaks I can get.

P.S. This is a 12 x 12 too!

About Country Re-directs

I noticed something a couple days ago but only now had the wherewithal to check out the change. Have you non-American readers noticed that when you go to a Blogger site, you now see it with your country-specific domain instead of .com (or the local domain)? For instance, if I go visit:

- My gal Libby's blog (in the States), I will see it as .ca (she sees it as .com).
- My gal Jessi's blog (in Canada), I will see it as .ca (she sees it as .ca too).
- My gal Nessy's blog (in the UK), I will see it as .ca (she sees it as .uk or .co.uk).

According to Blogger, the change is necessary to "provide more support for managing content locally. If we receive a removal request that violates local law, that content may no longer be available to readers on local domains where those laws apply. This update is in line with our approach to free expression and controversial content, which hasn’t changed."

I think it's a shame that we have to establish borders on the Internet. Frankly, it is not likely to affect my viewing too much but I think we only have to say that five-letter word (China) and know that the road to further censorship is only exacerbated by this move.

Positive note of the day: Went out last night to this restaurant called "Farm" that changes it menu depending on the organic food it can get from local producers. Awesome food and we caught up with some friends we hadn't seen in ages.

A Good Bye Card

One of my good work friends is leaving which gives me a sad. Thankfully he will be in the same building so we can catch coffee and lunch with everyone from time to time. With him leaving, it does give me pause about this job (largely because I am moving more into operations role rather than being on a project)...I will really have to stay attuned to what I am doing to ensure it's the right direction for me. If not, I am confident I could find another job but I do love the people I work with...

This is the card I made for him (which I will pass around everyone to sign). This card will be no surprise to the people I work with...heh heh.

Positive note of the day: Finished up most of my work projects today. So long as my 9 AM meeting goes well, I will consider tomorrow a success.

Weekly Sketches

I don't think it can get much more feminine...

The other day I headed over to Scrapbooker's Paradise to pick up my giftie for being on the design team. There was quite a mix of this Teresa Collins Spring Fling papers and embellishments. Now, I would have never picked this up myself but I was playing with some scraps (I am using this paper to make something very girly for C) and put together this card. Not my go-to but I think it would be liked as a birthday card for someone else!

Positive note of the day: Got some work done today. Got some crappy news too (financial...forever with money woes lately it seems!) but I am over it now.

Playing in Paradise #58 - Sketch Time

It's Playing in Paradise day and my turn which can only equal one thing...a sketch!

I used the Emboss Resist technique which I hadn't tried in forever and I love how it turned out! I clear embossed on white CS and then sponged on a mixture of two distress inks which I paired with this pretty MME's DP.

Positive note of the day: I took back "Training" today in my department and fixed it. There was so many things going wrong and it was not getting remedied so I did it as part of a total reset. Totally wiped as a result but it will be better in the end.

Forever Friends

Last summer was C's quick and thorough triumph of her two-wheeler. And, most of her time spent bike-riding was in just the outfit you see...bathing suit, ballet slippers and a bike helmet. It's amazing she wasn't covered with scrapes and bruises!

Positive note of the day: I think I like my new office even if it is pretty far away from the train station. Here's hoping I am working with a good bunch on this floor!

Positive note of the day: Went show-homing yesterday. The kids liked it and B was coming up with lots of ideas to incorporate here (so I don't have to beg to start renovating!).
